HALH is an independent association originally established in 1949 as the Hertfordshire Local History Council. It seeks to promote the study of local history throughout Hertfordshire.  A Registered Charity No. 280499, it is supported by a large number of individual members, local history and amenity groups, museums and other groups.  It acts as a co-ordinating and umbrella body and has the support of Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS).
