HALH exists to promote the study and enjoyment of local history in Hertfordshire by
HALH is an independent association originally established in 1949 as the Hertfordshire Local History Council. It seeks to promote the study of local history throughout Hertfordshire. A Registered Charity No. 280499, it is supported by a large number of individual members, local history and amenity groups, museums and other groups. It acts as a co-ordinating and umbrella body and has the support of Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS).
HALH exists to promote the study and enjoyment of local history in Hertfordshire by
- assisting and encouraging local history societies
- co-ordinating a network of local history recorders
- organising events during the year
- providing 'priming loans' to societies for special projects
- publishing:
- Herts Past and Present journal, twice a year
- Local History News and Events, twice a year
- List of local history speakers published online
- Hertfordshire Publications series in association with the University of Hertfordshire Press
