HALH exists to promote the study and enjoyment of local history in Hertfordshire by

• assisting and encouraging local history societies
• co-ordinating a network of local history recorders
• organising other events during the year
  • May: Spring Meeting & AGM
  • June or July: Garden Party
  • November: Symposium
• providing 'priming loans' to societies for special projects
• publishing
  • Hertfordshire Publications series in association with the University of Hertfordshire Press
  • Herts Past and Present journal, twice a year
  • Local History News and Events, 4 times a year
  • List of Local History Speakers
